Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $669,964)
The proposed project will identify the impact that demolishing or rehabilitating vacant and decaying buildings in urban areas has on firearm violence and other crime.
The examination of the relationship between the removal of vacant housing, through demolition or rehabilitation, and changes in the rates of firearm violence while accounting for the heterogeneity of effects by neighborhood and property type, will add to understanding what concentration (i.e., the proportion of blighted buildings demolished or rehabilitated) is needed to achieve the desired level of change in firearm violence and other crimes.
This project contains a research and/or development component, as defined in applicable law, and complies with Part 200 Uniform Requirements - 2 CFR 200.210(a)(14). CA/NCF
